This July marks a proud milestone—10 years since Alberta’s accounting designations united to form one profession, Chartered Professional Accountants. The unification has shaped the accounting profession in the province, bringing greater clarity, public trust, and opportunity for Alberta CPAs across all sectors.
To celebrate, we’re reflecting on the journey and the incredible growth the profession has experienced over the past decade.
Join the celebration!
This milestone belongs to every Alberta CPA, and there are many ways to take part:
- Revisit the story of unification in Uncommon Sense’s final episode of the season, where Rachel Miller, CEO of CPA Alberta, and Greg Draper, Board Chair at the time, take the reins of the CPA Education Foundation’s podcast to discuss this pivotal moment in the profession’s history
- Share your experiences, thoughts, and story from the last 10 years—and look to the future—on LinkedIn or Instagram and tag CPA Alberta. (Need inspiration? Look for prompts in future issues of Daily Dividends)
- Watch for the 10th anniversary banner and logo on the CPA Alberta website, in emails, and on social media
- Read the summer issue of Dividends (coming late August), where Alberta CPAs (and future CPAs) share stories from the past and visions for the future
- Put your name forward for the CPA Alberta Board and help shape the next decade
- Attend local meetups and events—there’s always something in the calendar
- Develop your skills with CPA Alberta’s courses, webinars, and programs
- Show off your CPA pride with branded merchandise from the CPA Store—and keep an eye out for some exclusive 10th-anniversary items coming soon!
- Volunteer or become a mentor to support and inspire the future of the profession
- Nominate a peer for a CPA Alberta Achievement Award
As we mark this milestone, we honour the vision and effort that brought the profession together and the individual CPAs who continue to move it forward. Whether you’re reflecting on how far we’ve come or looking ahead to the next chapter, this is a chance to reconnect with the values that define CPA Alberta: integrity, leadership, and a commitment to serving the public good.
Here’s to the next decade—and to every CPA who helps shape what comes next.
