In 2021, CPA Alberta’s Peer-to-Peer Innovation and Technology Forum wrapped up a full year of data analytics discovery.
Five knowledgeable Alberta CPAs each prepared, shared, and guided a conversation around four key points in the data analytics cycle.
Highlights from the forums:
- Kyle Dobson CPA, CA kicked off the year identifying common techniques, getting to deeper questions, and highlighting some common pitfalls in asking the right questions.
- Jessa Aco-Kuchmak CPA and Cameron Fox CPA had a fireside chat about how critical it is to source and import appropriate data. This relaxed approach gave both CPAs the opportunity to share examples of data sources and some anecdotal insights that demonstrated the impact good data can have on an organization.
- Pierre Floc’h-Anderson CPA, CMA and his team at SMART Technology shared how the shift in 2020 to Microsoft Dynamics 365 and outfall from the COVID-19 pandemic created an opportunity for the organization and their team to evaluate the questions they were asking, import appropriate data, and then wrangle and transform that information to support business growth.
- Isabel Duran CPA, CGA and her team at TC Energy shared their story of how they implemented a data analytics-driven million-dollar energy cost-savings project and the tools they used to analyze and visualize this data.
