The CPA Education Foundation’s Hesje CPA Knowledge Centre has launched a new Self-Publishing Grant Program to enable Alberta CPAs to apply for a grant to help fund the self-publishing of books they have written.
Each year, two successful grant recipients will each receive $5,000 worth of self-publishing services from FriesenPress, a Canadian publishing company with a proven track record in self-publishing.
As the first step in the grant application process, applicants must first watch a short webinar—developed in partnership with FriesenPress—detailing the self-publishing experience. FriesenPress offers professional editing, design, distribution, and promotional support to self-publishers, making them a natural fit for this program.
“Self-publishing has become a popular method for creating written works that make the authors’ expertise available to wide audiences,” says Foundation Director, Erin Schwartz CPA. “Brian Hesje FCPA, FCA—whose unprecedented donation to the Foundation created the Centre—was a self-published author himself, and he believed strongly in creating possibilities for CPAs to help others by sharing their knowledge and experience. We believe this new grant program reflects the innovative spirit and vision that Brian had for the Centre.”
