The CPA Education Foundation is proud to partner with donors with a shared interest in developing the next generation of CPAs by providing greater access to accounting education.
Two new awards help reduce the financial burden associated with the cost of post-secondary education and celebrate academic excellence while empowering students to achieve futures once thought unattainable.
For Alberta CPA and Foundation Board Member Joshua Letendre CPA, uplifting Indigenous voices and strengthening the social, cultural, and economic well-being of his community is a priority. Joshua is a proud Métis accounting professional, university instructor, and non-profit leader who is sparking transformative change in Alberta and beyond.
By establishing the Joshua Letendre CPA, MPAcc Métis Community Champion Award, along with his mentorship, storytelling, and leadership in the classroom, Joshua hopes to help students envision a future in the profession that has helped shape his career.
Giving back is also at the heart of the motivation behind the MNP and Ufodike Business Award of Excellence for Black Post-Secondary Students. Through a partnership with MNP, headquartered in Calgary, Chioma Ufodike FCPA, FCMA and Akolisa (Ako) Ufodike FCPA, FCGA are paying it forward to support Black students across the province who display excellence in their post-secondary studies in business and accounting.
Both Chioma and Ako are decorated CPAs, each being among the first Black Albertans to receive the prestigious Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA). Chioma is one of only two Black females in Alberta to receive fellowship in the profession, while Ako was the first Black recipient of fellowship in 2013. He made history again in 2022 as the first Black Canadian appointed as a Deputy Minister in Alberta.
Thanks to their generosity and that of MNP, through its Communities Forward program, Black post-secondary students can be recognized for their academic achievements.

Applications for the MNP and Ufodike Business Award of Excellence for Black Post-Secondary Students will be accepted until February 15, 2026.
