Join a live webinar on the proposed 2026 updates to CPA Alberta’s bylaws and other governing documents. These updates are necessary to bring the organization in line with the Government of Alberta’s new Professional Governance Act (PGA).
The PGA brings 22 professional regulatory bodies, including CPA Alberta, under a single piece of legislation. It is largely based on and will replace the current legislation, The Chartered Professional Accountants Act. The new act does not impose any major changes for Alberta CPAs as they fulfill their professional obligations, nor on CPA Alberta.
However, as a result of the new legislation CPA Alberta is required to update its bylaws and other governing documents. Under the PGA, members must be consulted on amendments to bylaws, which will then be reviewed by the Government of Alberta and approved by the CPA Alberta Board before the PGA takes effect in June 2026. This is a change from The Chartered Professional Accountants Act, under which members approved any changes to the bylaws and Rules of Professional Conduct.
The webinar includes a presentation outlining the changes brought on by the PGA, followed by the chance to ask your questions and provide feedback on the proposed changes.
