December 31 is quickly approaching, which means that there are only two weeks left to make your donation to the CPA Education Foundation in the 2022 tax year.
The Foundation is excited to share that Vice Chair Michael Burnyeat CPA, CA will be matching all donations made to the Foundation’s new special project, Sparking Great Careers, up to a maximum of $50,000 in the month of December.
Sparking Great Careers was created to help remove barriers for disadvantaged youth through scholarships, soft-skill development seminars and other hands-on learning opportunities. One of the exciting programs in the works is a new summer internship program, which will provide high school and post-secondary students paid opportunities to preview the profession first-hand and gain valuable workplace skills and job experience. Through this experience, they will hopefully be able to see themselves thriving in the profession.
“Many high school and post-secondary students are looking for someone to give them a chance, someone who will guide them through what the profession has to offer. We wanted to create an opportunity for students who don’t have one foot already in the door to see how rewarding being a CPA is,” says Michael. “I am investing in the next generation of business leaders and CPAs, and I hope you will join me. Every dollar makes a difference, no matter if your donation is $15 or $15,000.”
The Foundation needs to meet Michael’s matching goal by December 31, 2022, and that means that there is still a chance for you to double the impact of your gift. With your help, the Foundation can support post-secondary and high school students in Alberta for years to come. Plus, you will receive an official tax receipt. It’s a win-win!
