February is Black History Month, a month to commemorate and celebrate the contributions of Black people. In honour of Black History Month, CPA Alberta reached out to Black CPAs to share their experiences through the #IAmACPA social media campaign.
The goal of the campaign is to amplify the voices of Black CPAs as they share their experiences working as business professionals in a variety of industries. Though the CPA profession has progressed in many ways since its inception, Black professionals are still underrepresented in the profession. We hope to show through these stories that Black professionals do hold a CPA designation and their contributions and expertise are integral to the growth and success of the profession.
Here’s a look at one of the social posts highlighting these stories that has been shared so far, featuring Kemi Awoniyi Ige CPA, CGA, who is a senior financial analyst with Canlin Energy. There will be new content each week for the remainder of the month.
