A reminder that, effective April 1 this year, membership in CPA Canada is optional for Alberta CPAs (and all Canadian CPAs). Membership in CPA Canada is not required to use the CPA designation; it is an option for those who want continued access to CPA Canada’s programs and services, such as Pivot magazine, online community platforms, and affinity programs.
While membership in CPA Canada is optional, membership in CPA Alberta or another provincial CPA body is required to use the CPA designation in Canada. There are no changes to the rights and privileges that those who hold the CPA designation enjoy as regulated professionals, no changes to scope of practice and protected titles and services, and no change to the mobility across Canada and abroad that CPAs currently enjoy. As a member of CPA Alberta, you will continue to have access to the resources required to fulfill your professional obligations, including access to the CPA Handbook.
