A regularly scheduled meeting of the CPA Alberta board was held on June 15, 2023. Below is a summary of key decision items and discussions from that meeting:
- The 2023 CPA Alberta annual report and financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2023, were approved.
- Grant Thornton LLP was recommended to be put forward to the membership for appointment as CPA Alberta external auditors for 2023-2024. This will be put forward to members at the 2023 Annual General Meeting, scheduled for September 7, 2023.
- The national Registrations Task Force’s Qualifications to Practice Public Auditing Report was discussed and feedback was provided to be given to the task force.
- Amended terms of reference for both the Achievement Awards Nomination and Achievement Awards Review Committees, as well as the Complaint inquiries Committee, were approved.
- Deanna Muise FCPA, FCA was appointed as the Chair of the CPA Alberta Achievement Awards Review Committee.
- Arnold Foligno CPA, CA was appointed Discipline Tribunal Roster Chair and Nazz Baksh CPA, CMA was appointed Vice-Chair.
- Michael Mannas FCPA, FCGA was appointed Appeal Tribunal Roster Chair.
- A number of individuals were appointed or re-appointed to the Complaints Inquiry Committee, the Practice Review Committee, and the Discipline and Appeal Tribunal Rosters.
- Erin Wallish CPA, CA was appointed Registrar of CPA Alberta.
