Become a CPA mentor and help mentees reach their career goals

Mentor and mentee applications are now open for the November 2020 intake of the Career Development Mentorship Program.

CPA Alberta’s Career Development Mentorship program has matched Alberta CPAs and candidates in formal mentorship relationships for the past seven years. Whether you’re on the giving or receiving end, these types of relationships can benefit your career.

Mentors:

  • Develop leadership skills
  • Impact and inspire mentees
  • Provide career advice, guidance, and share relevant knowledge
  • Improve communication skills
  • Learn new perspectives

Mentees:

  • Gain valuable advice
  • Formulate realistic career goals
  • Increase your knowledge of sectors and industries
  • Build your network
  • Improve soft skills

Over 92% of the mentors and mentees surveyed in the program indicate they are making progress on the goals they set in their formal relationships. Goals mentees often work on in the program include:

  • Setting strategic short and long-term career goals and direction
  • Building communication skills
  • Strengthening technical accounting skills
  • Establishing a professional network and building networking skills
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Resolving workplace conflicts effectively
  • And more!

The year-long program kicks off each November. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet at least once per month to initially set goals and review progress. Best of all, the program has gone virtual this year! Whether you live in Stavely or Calgary, it doesn’t matter: mentee and mentor pairings will be made across the Province based on an intake screening questions.

In addition, CPA Alberta provides matches with four hours of virtual training to enable successful relationships.

Do you want to move your career forward? Interested in supporting others to learn and grow?

Apply Today! Application closes October 19, 2020.
