Learn what CPA Alberta is doing for you this National Career Development Month

Spoiler alert—a lot of it is free!

Did you know that November is Canada’s National Career Development Month? This month-long campaign emphasizes the significance of career development and planning and aims to educate and inspire individuals to explore career options, set goals, and make strategic decisions about their professional futures.

So what does CPA Alberta have in store for you and your career development?

First up, you can join us for our annual Evolve Conference, running from November 21 to 24, centred around the theme Transform Today, Thrive Tomorrow. Explore a dynamic mix of virtual and in-person workshop sessions addressing regulatory, technological, and career transformations. Secure your tickets now—click here to learn more.

Throughout the month, we’re offering various free events, including a virtual rapid resume review on November 23, offered in partnership with Aplin, a staffing and recruiting agency. Upload your resume in advance when booking your space to meet one-on-one in a virtual setting with a recruiter to learn the key components of an effective resume and how to highlight your strengths and accomplishments.

In November, behind the scenes, we’re putting the finishing touches on your 2024 career development calendar. A sneak peek reveals an upcoming monthly series celebrating diverse career paths, industries, and experiences of Alberta CPA members. All job search sessions will feature fresh content, emphasizing the use of AI in your search. Expect new techniques for crafting your value proposition and leveraging social media. Keep an eye on all of our communications channels for more information to be revealed.

The momentum doesn’t slow down after National Career Development Month concludes in November. In December, we’re offering an Emotional Intelligence information workshop to equip CPAs with the necessary emotional intelligence tools to enhance their interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills, leading to better client relationships, teamwork, and overall job satisfaction.

Last but certainly not least, are you aware that you can access personalized, complimentary career services? All Alberta CPAs can benefit from free career consulting sessions. CPA Alberta offers access to two specialized career advisors with a combined experience of over 35 years working with Alberta CPAs. Comparable career coaches often charge over $150 per hour, but our services are entirely free.
